Last December when we were at the Festival of Trees, David got this idea to have our youth do a tree and use the 2013 theme, Stand in Holy Places.
It turned out to be a way bigger project then David realized
but it has been fun to see the ward come together to make it happen.
A couple of months ago a senior couple in our ward were asked to oversee the project. They truly magnified their calling as the idea grew into more than anyone ever dreamed. The youth made many of the ornaments and the stockings. The stable scene was hand crafted by our former Bishop and the Stand in Holy Places sign and the Moroni tree topper were carved by another brother in our ward. One of the Relief Society sisters worked with a group of young women to make the quilt. The rocking chair was donated by our YW President and then painted and distressed by another family in our ward. The tree skirt and the advent book bags were made by sisters in the Relief Society. Emily and I were on the wiring committee and helped to wire on all the ornaments.
