Grandma's New Wheelchair

Just before our trip to California, Grandma had some sort of accident and injured her knee. Although not completely sure what happened as she can't tell us, we believe that she pulled her TV down on her knee. On Monday, October 12, she was in a great deal of pain and not doing well. Our family went over to Grandma's for FHE, David and Judd gave Grandma a blessing, we sang hymns and had family prayer with her. We were worried about leaving for our trip but Connie was able to check in on Grandma while we were away. Doug and Connie have been wonderful, we are really grateful for their support.

Although she is bearing a little bit of weight she is still not standing or walking. She is so weak that I doubt she will ever walk again. Being "transferred" from a wheelchair increases her level of care and she is now "maxed out" on the care that the Charleston can provide. The next step is a nursing home. It is so difficult for us to see her body and mind shut down. We have to trust the hospice staff to advise us on the best way to help her endure to the end. I am grateful for the staff at the Charleston and the Hospice staff. They are sweet with Grandma and provide a great deal of support for me personally.
